We are a Family run business established in 1979, originally based in Church Street, Preston trading as Mr. Jethwa the Tailor. The business was started by our father, Mr. Velji Shamji Jethwa as a traditional bespoke tailor and under his tutelage his son Mr. Ramesh Jethwa gained experience, expertise and the art of tailoring from a master craftsman.
In 1979 the business moved to Corporation Street, Preston – still operating as a bespoke tailor. The business was run by father and son where it traded for the next 3 years.
In 1982 the business moved to bigger premises on Friargate, Preston. During this time Mr Bharat Jethwa (son of Velji Shamji Jethwa and brother of Mr. Ramesh Jethwa) joined the business, bringing his experience from his university studies and his know how from working in prestigious Men’s fashion houses such as DAKS and Aquascutum.
The business continued with its excellent tailoring service and successfully built on this by introducing a new ready to wear department which stocked the leading brands of its time. The business flourished and began to trade as Mr Jethwa Menswear.
In 1987 after much deliberation and a heavy heart our father took retirement and the bespoke tailoring side of the business closed.
In 1996, the business continued to progress and moved to a new location on Lune Street, in Preston Town centre; this new location has been home to the business for the past 24+ years. Located opposite us can be located St. Georges Shopping Centre. We are grateful and thankful to all our customers, old and new, for their custom to date.
